FAQs

Is Chiropractic safe?

Chiropractic care is recognized as one of the safest drug-free therapies for the treatment of neuro-musculokeletal problems.  The risks associated with Chiropractic care are very small.  After an adjustment it is normal for one to feel mild soreness, but this should fade within 24 hours. Many of our patients report immediate relief following an adjustment.

How does Chiropractic work?

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your brain controls and regulates every organ, tissue, and muscle in your body.  The brain communicates with the rest of the body through the spinal cord and corresponding spinal nerves.  When this network of communication is healthy, the body can function normally.  What happens when there is a communication breakdown and the brain is not able to communicate properly with the rest of the body via the spinal nerves?  It could cause localized discomfort; however, you can also lose function to certain areas of the body, which may result in digestive issues, sciatica, headaches, sleeping problems, and so on.  Chiropractors help keep your spine and nervous system healthy and free from interference, which allows the brain to communicate properly with the rest of the body.

What else can be done to help?

Receiving Chiropractic adjustments are an excellent stepping stone to restoring your health.  There are other areas in your life to focus on to achieve the best results in combination with your adjustments.

  • eating a well-balanced, nutritious, non-processed diet
  • moving every day, especially if you work in a sedentary environment
  • thinking positive thoughts and surrounding yourself with people who lift you up
  • switching from harsh chemicals to natural beauty and natural cleaning products in the home
  • ensuring a good, restful nights sleep
  • drinking plenty of water

Will I need to have X-rays taken on my first visit?

To see is to know, to NOT see is to guess.  Specific Chiropractic x-rays allow the Chiropractor to know exactly what to do to help you.  After your examination, your Chiropractor will make the decision as to whether specific postural x-rays are needed.
